Rising Star

The Scott Blummer Memorial Rising Star award was created in 2013 to recognize the stand-out efforts of a newer official. Scott was a basketball official for 38 years, an IHSA clinician, and mentor who impacted the lives of many officials, especially those just starting out. The official selected will be one who has shown dramatic improvement in his/her officiating skills and knowledge.

Criteria to obtaining this prestigious award include the following:

• Officiating 5 years or less
• Officiating high school at some level
• Limited to one (1) official per year
• Selected by committee appointed by and including the Board
• Nominee has to be a JBO member in "good standing"
• Voting done by the committee
